Missions Celebration Weekend

In mid March 2013, with the help of Duane Bakken and family (who were just about to head off from training at New Tribes Mission in Durham ON to travel back to home territory in B.C., gathering more support for their calling to spread God’s word and His love to a tribe who hasn’t met him yet) we raised the profile of mission work in the world. Our weekend
at Knox Presbyterian Church in Walkerton was fun for all involved. God was glorified, we learned so much and enjoyed great fellowship. Guest speakers and movies about current mission work around the world were compliments to our activities as two teams (Team Malawi and Team Taiwan). Teams connected with the Presbyterian missionaries in their respective countries, learned bible verses, created educational banners and displays related to the ongoing efforts as God builds His church. We taught each other new songs of praise....there was even an outstanding song created and performed by team Taiwan to the tune of “The Beverly Hillbillies”, with lyrics teaching about the mission work there! A potluck dinner (multicultural foods) and a parade of nations at the Sunday service of worship topped off a wonderful, exciting experience. We thank and praise God for the challenge, the fun, and most of all for the work of his servants who leave their homes to help spread the good news of the gospel.
